The reorganisation of the Lagny RATP Bus Centre includes a 25,000 m² office complex and a 4,000 m² public facility. This programme creates a varied ensemble where each entity has its own autonomy and the underground bus depot is in direct contact with the exterior.
The urban and architectural work revolves around a subtle combination between top (above the slab) and bottom (the elevated basement) through a play on visual and spatial relations. It ensures that each public facility or office entity is legible in its own right by making their public and technical entrances independent.
The office complex is composed of several buildings grouped around the central garden. The buildings display two aspects: a 'mobile' architecture giving onto the garden, and an urban 'Parisian' architecture onto the street. These two architectures are linked together by the roofing that opens onto the sky. The architecture of the garden façades is visible from the street from two different angles facing the public area: once in the axis of Rue Loliée (through the café), another at the corner of Lagny Pyrénées to mark the entrance to the offices.
On the garden side, the façades are made up of full-height vertical wooden elements that form a linear movement at a rhythm of 1.35 metres, a kind of long musical wave echoing the garden plantations. The access gallery to the buildings is located below this façade (on the level of the base/garden). The geometry of this gallery expands slightly in places to incorporate the lifts down to the car park. The upstairs windows feature coloured canvas blinds that automatically react to sunlight. These blinds are fixed between the vertical elements, protect the windows behind, and form a ripple effect up the façade up to the roof.
This 'rippling' architecture in wood, textile and glass develops around the garden perimeter and forms a coloured 'living' whole. The garden is a pleasant space planted with birch trees and low heathland-type vegetation.
The skylight openings in the basement are scattered among the greenery and give off an otherworldly light at night time.
